70% of the things we say, we say it with our body… and it is something that I know my way around, and
quite well; thanks to the best teacher I had for that: Mum.
Though
I don’t think it has anything to do with just reading a book or knowing the universal
signs; like crossing your arms protecting yourself in a conversation… I think it has also a lot to do with
instinct.
I’m
going to tell you what happened to me, which made me confirmed that people miss
a lot of things because they don’t know how to read someone else’s body.
A
while ago, we were at the office watching the Super Bowl 2016 performance on
YouTube. A coworker was talking about how beautiful, gorgeous and “amazing”
Beyoncé was… and I told her that Beyoncé
is one of the artists that I hate the most in all history. She defended
her, mentioning her struggle and her complicated past with her father, and such.
I
told her “I can’t stand her as person.” to what all my coworkers jokingly responded
that they haven’t got the “chance to meet her in person, to know”… but is not necessary to meet someone face to
face to know if that person is a good human being or not. You can see that
in the way they treat their subordinates, their family, how they handle
journalists (in the case of artists) and especially how they treat their fans.
And
that’s something Beyoncé fails enormously, in each and every one of the previous
statements.
Yes,
maybe she struggled from the bottom to overcome herself, and she’d been working
her entirely life, since she was a child. I am not denying that, nor am I taking her achievements away. But,
to me, she stills is a prepotent person, that doesn’t know the concept of
humility (especially for someone that came from the bottom), and the way she
believes herself, literally, to be the “Goddess of the Music World”; simply for
me makes her less and less of a pleasant person.
The
first time that I realized this was in an E! (entertainment channel) special where
they aired an interview after yet another Destiny Childs’ member dropped out of
the group (back in the 90’s). Her
expression of disdain and contempt when she said “All the bad apples are out”,
marked the moment when I saw how arrogant she was. Especially because in that
same program they interviewed one of the former members, and she said that she
was giving everything to the group, and yet her mum didn’t have enough money to
buy food… while Beyoncé and her father drove around LA in Ferraris.
Second point: family. It turned out that Beyoncé has a half-brother, I can’t
quite remember where or how he came in the picture; but the thing is that she
had a brother living in the streets (if I can recall properly) and he was in
serious financial problems. I’m the kind of person that believes children shouldn’t
pay for their parents’ mistakes; and
she, whether had or hadn’t had problems with her dad, was the right one to help
her brother. Apart from the fact that she has the meanings (I mean, money
in industrial quantities) to be able to help him without costing her nothing. Did
she do it? No. she turned her back to him.
There’s your queen.
Point three: fans. I confirmed, once again, the cloud of……….arrogance and
of “look but do not touch me” in where “Queen” Beyoncé walks around (I mean,
not even the Queen of England); when I saw a video (on Snapchat) where some
fans were at some red carpet event, and a girl shouted to Beyoncé “You’re
looking beautiful!!” or something like that, to what your highness gave a
sided, annoyed, with all her disdain written all over her face (how dare she
speaks to me!) look, and with an annoying tone answered “Thanks.”
Not
even a little smile, not a wink, not even to turn around to see the girl
properly. No. Nothing. Just disdain,
contempt, arrogance… That’s the queen everybody defends.
And that’s the Beyoncé I hate.
I
know it’s hard to believe that one can know artists (no matter how “famous”
they are) just by looking at them, but it is possible. Thanks to Body Language, it is easy to see how humble or proud, how
simple or arrogant, how natural or fake they can be.
And
she can have all the money in the world, and all the awards in all the
categories. But a person that doesn’t want
to help her half-brother and leave him on the streets, having the meanings to do
it (and plenty of money) for me is just a despicable human being.
PS: English is not my first language, if you see gramma mistakes, you're welcome to point them out so I can fix and learn... Thanks!
